Kangaroo Korner Adjustable Pouch Sizing

How do you select the best size? Follow these simple instructions!

1. Using a soft tape measure, measure your upper chest circumference (loosely, over normal clothing), above the largest part of your bust (under your armpits), to help determine your pouch size. DO NOT MEASURE DIRECTLY "OVER" THE FULLEST PART OF YOUR BUST AND DO NOT USE YOUR BRA SIZE. If you do not have a soft tape measure, use a piece of string and a standard ruler to measure yourself. Men size similarly to women - that is, actual bust size is not usually taken into account when determining proper sizing. If you are currently in your 3rd trimester of pregnancy, you may want to subtract 1” from this measurement.
2. Use the chart below to determine your approximate size.

Here are more suggestions to help you determine your best size.

1. The majority of people who purchase our pouches wear size MEDIUM. A size small is usually best for a more petite person and a size large and x-large will usually accommodate people who are larger than average.

2. If the chart above recommends 2 sizes (e.g. M/L = Medium or Large), I recommend purchasing both sizes to try on, side by side, with the intention of returning the sling that fits least well. This option will save you time, money and frustration. In addition, you will not need to go a day without wearing your baby in case a different size is needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why is selecting the right size pouch important?

A: Selecting the right size pouch is extremely important. In order to get a snug, secure and comfortable fit, your pouch must be the right size for you. If you wear a pouch that is too small for you, you simply will not be able to comfortably fit your baby inside. If you wear a pouch that is too big for you, your baby will be worn too low on your body. Not only is this unsafe for your baby, but it will cause you intense lower back pain as your baby's weight is not being evenly distributed throughout your body. Please use the chart below to help you determine which will be the best size for you and your child. Keep in mind that all people are sized differently and while our charts are very accurate, they cannot account for all variability's among people.

Q: I know these pouches are adjustable, but why is adjustability important?
A: Our pouches come standard with 4 adjustment rows to accommodate weight gain or weight loss due to a pregnancy or to accommodate extra room for bulky clothing. There is no need to purchase 2 sizes to accommodate your body and your baby for many years - only ONE pouch is necessary! There are two rows of overlap in between sizes. For example, the two loosest rows on the size medium are the same as the two tightest rows on the size large. This means that you may be able to comfortably wear 2 pouch sizes - this may also be helpful if you would like to share a pouch with someone smaller or larger than you.
