The CMA Mom Squad Reviews: Sakura Bloom Theory ring sling.

Sakura Bloom’s latest addition to their lineup of fabulous ring slings is Theory, a bamboo and linen blend ring sling which was released in April 2016.

Pros:

  • Very soft, with a luxurious feel
  • Incredibly supportive, making even heavy kids feel weightless
  • Very breathable, in spite of its weight!

Cons:

  • Heavy
  • Can be difficult to adjust
  • Recommended for experienced ring sling users

The Sling:

Theory slings are made from a single layer of rich bamboo fabric, blended with linen in a subtly textured herringbone pattern.  The shoulder style (like all Sakura Bloom slings) is gathered.  The rings are silver Sling Rings, made from aluminum.  Currently comes in 8 colors: Birch (cream), Dove (pale gray), Monterey (blue-gray), Pear (muted light green), Reef (aqua), Sonoma (dusty yellow), Tern (gray and natural), Thistle (very pale gray-lavender)

Theory Sakura Bloom Review | Sakura Bloom Ring SlingsThe Review

CMA Mom Squad member Monica has been wearing her Theory sling for two months now with baby Kam (now 24 lbs and 32″).  Monica’s verdict?  “This sling is a beast!”  Monica loves how supportive and soft Theory is – “it is definitely the most supportive sling of all my Sakura Blooms – Kam feels absolutely weightless in it, even more so than my Silks or Chambrays.”  Monica rates this sling as her top choice for support and comfort while wearing a bigger kid.  She was also surprised that despite the heaviness of the fabric, Theory was actually quite comfortable and breathable in the heat “I wore it in 90 degree weather and it felt just fine!”

Monica reports that Theory is definitely the most intimidating sling she owns, and says she wouldn’t recommend it for first time wearers.  Because the fabric is thick and somewhat blanket-like, it can feel like a lot of fabric.  It can also be a bit challenging to break in and to adjust ” even though I love it once I’m in it, it can be a bit of a workout to get it on and adjusted!”  She thinks this is a carrier best used with heavier kids who have enough weight to counterbalance the heaviness of the fabric.

Monica would not recommend Theory for plus-size wearers, although she does recommend the Chambray and Silk for up to size 16 wearers.  The tail of the sling is quite short on her (with barely enough length to wrap around the rings) and Theory doesn’t seems to be getting longer as it breaks in like silks do, even after two months of wearing.

The bottom line: Monica highly recommends the Theory Sakura Bloom for experienced babywearers looked for unparalleled support and comfort when wearing toddlers.  She does not recommend it for new babywearers or for plus-size wearers over size 16.
