Review of the Boba Air Baby Carrier – perfect for babywearing emergencies!

Black Boba Air Travel CarrierBoba recently released an innovative concept in baby carriers – the Boba Air,  a super compact, lightweight carrier that rolls up in to its own bag for storage, travel and stashing in the diaper bag.  Julianne from Mommy and Me Giveaways tried it out recently and wrote this review.

The Boba Air carrier is the lightest carrier on the market, weighing only 0.7lbs!  Being so light, and made of 100% nylon, it is super compact.  In fact, it is self-storing.  Once you’re done wearing it you simply roll it up into a nifty little pouch and zip it right up.  It’s perfect to keep in the diaper bag or stowed away in your car or van.   It would also be perfect for traveling! The Boba Air is a fully functional buckle carrier as well.  You can wear your baby (15-45lbs) on the front or back.  It also features a sleeping hood and a handy zippered pocket.

Jorja and I used the Boba Air on a recent walk with some area babywearers.  The Boba Air was very easy to adjust, went on just like any other soft structured buckle carrier (SSC) that I’ve ever owned, and was perfectly functional.  I have to say, I was skeptical about it since I have never used a nylon carrier.  I was worried that it would be to lightweight and wouldn’t be very supportive for my monster 35lb 3 year old, but we lasted the entire 1.5 mile walk.  She even fell asleep on me so we switched around from the back to the front for better snuggles.  My only negative-ish comment would be that since the shoulder straps are not padded, they bunched a little and cut into my shoulders some so I had to keep re-adjusting.  Other than that, this is a great carrier and a wonderful option!

Thank, Julianne!  Her experience with the Boba Air seems right in line with my recommendations – -the Boba Air will make a great second carrier – perfect for keeping in the car as a backup for stashing in the diaper bag or stroller, and for bringing along when space really counts.  It would also be a great choice for when your child has been in an independent mood lately, but you want a carrier along, just in case!
