Don’t be taken in! Counterfeit ERGOS

It was bound to happen: ERGO baby carriers are so successful and so popular and yes, so excellent, that someone out there has decided they are worth knocking off.  Apparently, Chinese manufacturers have gotten hold of the label and other specs and are selling the products (presumably at a cut rate) to unsuspecting buyers.  At least I hope they are unsuspecting!

What’s the problem with buying a knockoff?  You might get yourself a cutie Kate Spade bag knockoff and hey, it’s not hurting anyone, right?  It’s not as though you would otherwise be buying a real Kate Spade bag (well, at least I wouldn’t, sigh!).  A baby carrier?  That’s completely different.  ERGO Baby isn’t just a brand name, it’s also your guarantee that your carrier is made to standards by a company with a reputation for great, safe baby carriers.  When you buy a knockoff, you risk that your baby backpack is made with cheap, inferior fabrics, poor sewing and other defects of workmanship.   And of course, if you try to get ERGO to back up a warranty on a counterfeit carrier, you’re out of luck.

The bottom line: now you know the fakes are out there, so be careful!  Only purchase your ERGO from an authorized dealer (like us!).  And if, on EBay or some other place, you run into a deal on ERGO that’s too good to be true?  It probably is.
