The CMA Mom Squad Reviews: The Beco Ring Sling

The CMA Mom Squad Reviews the Beco Ring SlingBeco Ring Sling Review

Beco recently released their new Beco Ring Sling and I just about fell out of my chair when I saw their price of just $55!  I was so interested to see exactly how great this value-priced sling could be, so I packed it up and sent it off to our CMA Mom Squad to review!

The Mom Squad verdict?  3 thumbs up!  All three reviewers loved this sling and thought it was an amazing value.

Pros:

  • Sturdy and “surprisingly supportive for a single-layer”
  • “A great starter sling”
  • “Amazing value”
  • Tapered tail gives a polished look

Cons:

  • “a little diggy” when wearing for longer time periods
  • Less luxe fabric than other slings, both in look and feel
  • limited color selection

The Sling:

The Beco Ring Sling is a ring sling made from a single layer of 100% cotton fabric.  The shoulder style  is gathered.  The rings are aluminum.  The Beco Ring Sling is available (currently) in 2 colors: Cloud (a light gray) and Ocean (a dark aqua blue).  The slings have colored stitching on the top rail to make it easier to see where to adjust the sling.  It is one-size fits all (approx 74-75″ long).

The Opinions:

Hannah’s Beco Ring Sling Review:

The Beco Ring Sling is a great budget friendly sling that I would have loved to have had as an option when Jude was smaller. It offers decent support. I found that it was a bit diggy into my shoulder if I wore Jude on my front, which I rarely do but for testing reasons I tried it out. It was comfy for a quick hip carry. Jude is 22 lbs currently. I couldn’t imagine using it for a 30+ pound toddler.  I also really love the taper – I’ve always liked the look of a longer tail and I feel like the taper gives that without being bulky.   I also love that I wouldn’t be afraid to wipe a nose with it.

How it compares to other slings Hannah likes: I feel the Beco is more supportive than the Classic Sakura Bloom – it feels a bit more durable and a tad thicker.  To me it’s not comparable to a Sakura Bloom Chambray or Silk– they are much more luxury fabrics and have a different look and feel.  Chambray is so buttery which makes the fabric of the Beco seem rough.

When compared to the Tula Ring Sling, I think the Beco is the better sling for a beginners. The material of the Beco is easier to adjust and control. The Tula sling is a lot of heavy material and is slightly harder to work with and break in. On the other hand, I also think the Tula sling will take us further into toddler wearing.  We were already pushing our comfort limits in the Beco at just 22lbs.

The bottom line: the Beco RS  can’t be beat for the price point and it’s a go-anywhere-do-anything sling. I feel like it’s a great “beginner” sling- you can try your hand at slinging and not be out $200 if it doesn’t work for your needs.

Cloud Beco Ring Sling | Beco Ring SlingsJustice’s Beco Ring Sling Review:

If you have been wanting to try a ring sling,  I highly suggest starting with the Beco Ring Sling-it’s the perfect workhorse, go anywhere type of sling.  I give this sling my full recommendation over the Maya Wrap Lightly Padded (I’m not a fan of the padded shoulder) or the Sakura Bloom Classic – it gets the job done.  I do love the way that this sling is tapered, too. I also love it’s sturdiness, length and washability!

I can still use this with Bronson who is 18 months old.  I wore it to Ikea and we lasted about an hour.  I will say that my back is a little bit sore compared to wearing my Beco Toddler SSC so for a bigger kid,  I will say this isn’t the sling for a long time wearing – maybe just a quick up and down like a Trader Joes run or bank run.

The bottom line: the Beco RS might not be the prettiest but it is a awesome workhorse, fairly priced sling.

Monica’s Beco Ring Sling Review:

For a single layer, the Beco Ring Sling is soo supportive and comfortable!  I do prefer my Sakura Bloom Chambray and Silk slings, but for the price, I was surprised at the quality.  I would recommend it to anyone looking to get into ring slings.
